I RUN A ONE WOMAN SHOW

That man over there says that woman needs to be helped into carriages and lifted over ditches.... Nobody ever helps me into carriages, or over mud-puddles or gives me any best place. And a'nt I a woman?
Look at my arm! I have ploughed, and planted, and gathered into barns, and no man could head me! And a'nt I a woman?
I would work as much and eat as much as a man, when I could get it, and bear the lash as well. And a'nt I a woman?
I have borne thirteen children and seen em most all sold off to slavery, and when I cried out with my mother's grief, none but Jesus heard me! And a'nt I a woman?

- Sojourner Truth at the Women's Conventions at Seneca Falls

About

The name of this webring basically sums it all up. I see this webring as a way to bring together websites created, owned, and maintained by the females of the web. A lot of us take the time to learn how to code websites. The websites can be personal, fan dedicated, businesses, whatever. The bottom line is that we have shown what we are capable of doing anything and webdesign is one of the many talents. Here, you can meet other females like you who have their own websites and are confident to show their skills. I can't explain it any easier.

If you are a female webmistress and would love to be in a circle of female designers like you, read the requirements and please join!

Requirements & Rules

A few requirements that I ask of that you need to know before you apply. (Don't worry, I'm not that strict :) )
Things that is needed to be a member:

  • You must be a female. Sorry guys!
  • You are the owner or the one maintaining the website.
  • I'll accept almost any kind of sites. That includes personal homepages, organizations, clubs, fan sites, independent businesses, etc. It wouldn't hurt to have at least one page about yourself to indicate you're the one running the shindig.
  • Your website must be complete before applying. If it's under construction or still in the middle of being completed, wait until you are finished and confident to show your work.
  • I care about content. I'm not asking for a hundred pages of text, but enough stuff to keep a surfer at your website for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Ever heard of the saying quality over quantity? That's what I want to see. Keep me entertained and interested in visiting again some other time.
  • With quality content, that means no broken links or images. Keep your web home clean and presentable. Maybe a nice and neat design too. Neon colors might hurt the eyes, and black text over a dark background color with possibly drive your visitors away. I hate to go deeper into design dos and don'ts, but be as original as you can even though most designs on the web now are a rehash of someone else's ideas. You know where I'm going with that.
  • I invite all females of various ages from all over the world to join.
Things I won't accept into the webring:
  • Pornography. As a mature woman you know the difference between art and porn.
  • Hate sites. If it's intended to be humorous or parody, I might let it slide.
  • Ad pop ups/pop unders. For a nice surfing experience it would be better not be bombarded with advertising while trying to view a website. There are plenty of webhosts that will host your site for a low cost or free without advertising on your pages. Visit www.freewebspace.net for a thorough listing of hosts.
  • Background music. If you're like me, I like to listen to my own music while surfing online or in silence. If you really want to have a song play when someone visits your site, PLEASE provide an option to stop or mute the music.
  • Sticky caps and weird sized fonts. Make your text readable!
That's about it. Ready? Join!

If you're now a member...
  • Please keep the ring code up at all times incase I do an unannounced code check. Even if you're on hiatus or under construction of a redesign. If the code doesn't check, you'll be placed into the queue until it shows up again.
  • UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE! Keep your content fresh, alive, and well.
  • If you move, change URLs, or contact information you are responsible to logging in and editing your information. If you forget your password or need help, don't hesitate to contact me.
  • HAVE FUN BEING A WOMAN!
*rules and/or requirements are subject to change without notice.

After you've submitted your site into the queue, hurry up and place one of the ring codes on the page you submitted. Not a separate 'rings/cliques' page. I use the automated code checker that will check the exact page you gave me to see if you have the code up and edited correctly. Please replace any part of the code with your ID# so that it will be valid. Have the ring code easily seen somewhere on that page so that visitors can easily surf from site-to-site through the webring.
