I haven't. So I'll tell you a story about my friend Amy's semi-brush with greatness. She works in a cafe in downtown New Haven. She was at work yesterday and noticed that a Yale student left their student ID at the cafe. It turns out the student that the card belongs to is none other than actress Jordana Brewster. Neat, huh? It gets better.
Amy's co-worker tells her that Ms. Brewster ate at the cafe the day before. She also came with another person, Derek Jeter. Cool, huh? We've got celebrities roaming around this city! As I am living here at this minute! (Ok, I know of a few other famous faces who are also attending Yale, but they're the ones that I'd rather not even mention. Jordana's cool.)
Amy was also told that Jordana and Derek had come to eat at the cafe a couple times before. Could they be a couple? Maybe.
One thing I know, if she doesn't come back to get her card, it could sell on Ebay.
I wonder what her picture on it looks like. Probably as pretty as she looks on camera.

I am probably the worst, uncaring roommate in the history of roommates.
My roomie's been sick for the last couple days. She's been in and out of a cold and fever, and doctors say she's got a possible urinary tract infection.
What do I say? awwwwww i'm sorry, how are you feeling?, and do you need anything?
I know I'm not her mother, but I feel that since I'm the coolest roomie in the world I should somehow be more sympathetic in way to make her feel better. As if making sad faces and saying little things like the above would do much.
I'd hug her but I wasn't really raised toy show love to others unless I'm absolutely positive someone would like getting a hug from me. (Yes, I've got a few problems to work out.)
So I make sure she drinks plenty of liquids, but all I could really suggest (my mommy skills are lacking) is for her to lay in bed and rest. Good enough?
I don't know. While I was in a friend's room this evening she left to go home. I can only hope that she gets her health and strength back soon.
Poor girl. She's been in a car accident right before the semester began and now she's sick. Maybe I'm jinxing her.
p.s. if I got that Nelly Furtado picture printed on a black t-shirt, would anyone like to buy it?

So there's this guy, who's in a punk band, who I'm designing graphics for their band to make into stickers, and he wants me to see them play in Hartford on the 30th because they're one of theng acts for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones(!!!) and he really wants me to go and he's trying to persuade me by saying I can hang out with his band and the Bosstones afterwards, and I can get tickets for cheap if I buy from him, but I have class that night.
While school is still kicking my ass, I shall have my lovely visitors (yes, you!) play a nifty game.
Guess the celebrity!
The first right guess will win a prize. Your choice of a handful of colorful and flavorful condoms, or a mix cd made by yours truly. Or neither. If you're stumped, maybe I'll give some clues. But TRY(!) at least.
Yes, I drew that. I'm so proud of myself.
Rules and Regulations: Those who are affiliated with Erma, such as Bogdan and her sister Joan, are not allowed to play because they already know who it is.
now playing: Ms. Jade featuring Timbaland and Nelly Furtado - Ching Ching. 11:24 PM [Link] [5 comments]

America, are we really that selfish not to care about the pain that others feel? US press has hardly acknowledged the Bali bombings in Australia, their own 9/11, that any mere mention of it here only reports on the 2 killed and 3 injured Americans and considers the rest of the dead "foreigners." Hello! Those in Australia don't consider the 183 dead, foreigners, but their own citizens. For an event that is "fast emerging as the biggest single tragedy in Australia's post war history" we seem pretty lazy to lend some sympathy to those who are suffering at this time. Whatever. [Link via Dillon]
Anyways, at least include these people in your thoughts and/or prayers. As well as those killed and injured in a bus bombing in the Philippines. To know that more innocent people are dead puts an even bigger hole in my heart. Think of others, people.

Julia wrote an entry last week about her relationship with her mom. Understanding inside jokes between the both of you, that kind of a bond is special. My mom and I have that. We also have other quirks to our relationship. I'm not sure if anyone else is like me, but sometimes it's just nice to be in the presence of someone you love or just a short talk on the phone to hear someone's voice is what comforts me.
So I called mom today just to say hello and see how everyone's doing at home. Small talk like that is nice, I like to keep up with family when I'm not around. Sometimes we have good phone conversations. Sometimes it's just a question and answer period then a, "gimme a call again sometime soon." This afternoon's conversation was the latter.
Mom: Hello? Me: Hi mom, it's Erma. Mom: oh hello! where were you last night? I asked Jane and she said you were downstairs. Were you in the basement studying? Me: No, I was hanging out with a friend while she was working at the front desk on the first floor. Mom: Oh. So have you studied today? Me: A little bit. I'm taking breaks in between. Mom: Are you getting enough sleep? Me: Yeah. Mom: Did you eat breakfast and lunch yet? Me: Yeah. Mom: Did you eat dinner yet? Me: No, the cafe's closed right now. Mom: Why?? But you need to eat! Me: It's 4:30. It's not time for dinner yet. Mom: Oh right. Well go eat dinner soon. You need to eat all your meals and sleep 8 hours every night and study. I'm gonna go out to the garden for a bit so you can call me tomorrow. (in a shy tone) i love you... Me: I love you too! Bye. Mome: ok bye! Click.
It doesn't take much to make my mom happy these days. As long as I'm eating, sleeping, and studying I'm still going to be her good little girl.

Part One of a weekend i'm trying to enjoy. Leah and Amy have gone to Boston for the weekend which leaves Pam, Steph, and I. Since Amy's awol and my roomie's still on vacation, Pam and I shall have a slumber party in her room tonite. Maybe some fun to be had, definitely more movies to be watched, and most likely more humorous pictures to be taken.
Note to self: burn a copy of Lenny Kravitz's greatest hits album.
Has anyone heard of Howie Day? I saw a small performance of his on the city's cable access channel and it looks as though he'll be on tour with Tori Amos. If you're interested in guys who sing and play guitar like John Mayer and Jason Mraz, give Howie Day a listen.
I apologize for the uninteresting jibber jabber.

Police found a tarot card of death with the writing "dear policeman - i am god" on it next to a shell casing in the area of the last sniper shooting. This case now sounds like the zodiac killer... input?

I know the link has been on the right for a while, but I'd like to remind everyone about this little writing project I've got, I Remember. Back when I was in elementary or middle school, my language arts teachers would give students a daily writing prompt for an assignment. There was one prompt where we'd begin our short essay with the phrase "I Remember..." and write about a memory we have. This is the point of the project. I'mto any submissions about your memories, good or bad. There's no set topic as of now, but I might start doing that if it'll motivate some of you to start writing. No requirements or rules. Just write. 04:37 PM [Link]
Someone came to my site searching for "bowling team names funny clever". I know some clever and (sorta) funny bowling team names. You could've asked me. My mom and dad and oldest sister MJ love going bowling. Unfortunately the love and skill of it hasn't been passed onto the genes of Joan and I, but that's alright, we've found our talents elsewhere. Having a clever name for your bowling team seems to add some fun to the activity, but choose carefully. Sometimes these names can (and will) get corny. as if having a clever name for your bowling isn't already corny... Some names off the top of my head are "the king pins," "the gutter gals," "lickity splits," "the misfits," "high rollers," "the pickups," "spare me," "split ends," "holy rollers," "hit or miss," "we've got balls," the list goes on. some teams even have whole phrases for their name so they use initials on the roster like "rtfb" (roll the fuckin' ball)... ok i'm not sure if that's ever been done but I know I used say that sometimes. if you know of any neat bowling team names, feel free to add onto the list.
Everytime I drive into New Haven I pass a newly placed sign that reminds me I'm living in the city where our president was born. Glance, cringe. But don't get me wrong, I like it here.
A quick announcement, I'm now a writer on Ghosting, a great concept created by Lane. Feel free to read and join in.
now playing: Sleeping to Dream - Jason Mraz and ohmygoodness he's playing at Foxwoods next month, someone's gotta get a ticket someway/how/time soon.

For nearly 2 years I was meaning to burn a few songs off of a cd recording of the 2001 Eastern Region High School Festival chorus that I sang in my senior year and I finally got around to it. If you like to listen to classical vocal music, Enjoy. If it's not your bag, then disreguard this post.
