08/09/2002 Entry: "money troubles"

Man. Some days you need to remind yourself that other people have it worse than you. I felt sorry for my friend Steph today. She's having the worst day ever, and it's her birthday! There's more proof of how Southern is screwing us over, she told me that her financial aid took off a couple thousand bucks for the next two semesters and she has to pay a minimum of $700 by monday or else her courses will be dropped and her dorm space will be taken away. Oy! And to add on to that, most of her supposed "best" friends bailed out of her small b-day celebration this evening. That's unbelievable. Steph is the nicest, most respected girl I know and stuff like this hardly ever happens to her. I wish I could help her out, but my bank account is pretty dry as well. And well, we all despise money, right? Man oh man. If I lived any closer to her than an hour's drive, I'd so pick her up and we'd do something fun. Maybe I'd make a stop at other towns and pick up Pam, Amy, Sam, Laura, and Sharon too. I miss my girls, I hope I get to see all of them next month.

One of my closest friends went through crap on her birthday too. Her own boyfriend told her she was gaining weight!! She didn't even eat anything.. not even the cake I bought for her :(

state schools just love to screw you over . . . or maybe it's just higher education in general. I don't get that and never will. Don't even get me started on all of the crap I've had to deal with at my school. Just glad I'm outta' there!

Financial aid would do that to someone and take several thousand dollars off? That's a load of crap! Man!!!
